A Two-Day Immersion in Creative Language, Textiles and Transforming Spaces

Held at the MiaSylvia studio in Essex, this intimate masterclass offers a rare opportunity to enter Mia’s creative world and explore the philosophy, materials and processes behind her work.

Across two days, Mia will share the way she observes, gathers ideas and responds instinctively to colour, texture, fabric and space. Together, we will explore how an initial feeling or fragment of inspiration can evolve into something sculptural, immersive and entirely your own.

The intention is not to teach you how to copy Mia’s work. It is to encourage the uncovering of your own creative language.

  • The first day will invite you to look more deeply at materials and the creative process. Developing your unique mood board.

    Through conversation, collage, demonstrations and hands-on making, we will explore fabric, colour, texture and the possibilities held within material. Mia will open her toolkit and share some of the techniques she uses to sculpt tables, chairs and smaller details.

    On the second day, those ideas will begin to move beyond the table and into the wider space.

    We will explore backdrops, overhead work and the relationship between fabric and its environment, using the ideas gathered within your moodboard as the beginning of a site-responsive installation.

  • Mia will share not only her techniques, but the thinking and feeling behind them, exploring fabric as sculpture, movement, texture, light and emotion.

    You will be encouraged to question, play, observe and trust your instincts. The group will be intentionally intimate, allowing time for demonstrations, meaningful conversation and one-to-one guidance from Mia throughout both days.

  • The MiaSylvia Masterclass is created for florists, event designers, stylists, artists, interior lovers and creatively curious people who want to deepen their relationship with textiles, materials and space.

    You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined style or all the answers.

    Simply bring an open mind, curious hands and a willingness to explore.

DATES

The same two-day masterclass will be offered on four occasions:

  • Tuesday 17th – Wednesday 18th November

  • Wednesday 25th – Thursday 26th November

  • Tuesday 1st – Wednesday 2nd December

  • Wednesday 9th – Thursday 10th December

Each masterclass will take place from 9:30am - 4:30pm on both days.

LOCATION

The masterclasses will be held at the MiaSylvia studio in rural Chelmsford, Essex, within easy reach of Stansted Airport.

INVESTMENT

The complete two-day masterclass is £2,400 per person.

The experience is offered as a complete two-day journey and individual days cannot be booked separately.

REGISTER YOUR INTEREST

Places will be intentionally limited to preserve the personal and immersive nature of the experience.

We are initially inviting expressions of interest rather than opening general ticket sales. This allows us to learn more about each person, their creative practice and what they hope to take from the masterclass.

Every expression of interest will be personally considered, with a small number of guests invited to join each two-day workshop.
